CLAYTON — St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley on Friday appointed two new members to the Board of Police Commissioners.

Dooley named Calzona J. Hall and John Saracino to fill the expired terms of board members Sheila Hoffmeister and Patrick A. Twardowski.

Hoffmeister and Twardowski were the only members of the five-member board who had not been appointed by Dooley. The other members of the board are Jimmy L. Brown, Gregory Sansone and Floyd C. Warmann. Their terms also have expired.

Hall, 73, of Chesterfield, retired in 2000 after serving for nine years as the county’s director of justice services. Before that, he spent 34 years with the St. Louis Police Department, retiring in 1991 as deputy chief.

Saracino, 52, of south St. Louis County, is a member of the St. Louis Airport Commission. He must resign that post before he can join the police board.

Saracino also has worked as a manager for Bartolino’s restaurants and Chris’s Pancakes.

The appointments are subject to approval by the St. Louis County Council.

The Post-Dispatch on Friday, quoting county officials who asked to remain anonymous, reported that Dooley wanted to oust Police Chief Jerry Lee. Dooley and Lee declined to comment.
