Legislative:

The Grand Lodge clearly considers the year round efforts of the full-time legislative staff in Washington, D.C. to be the single greatest benefit to members at the national level
Recent accomplishments at the national level include the passage of HR 218, the "Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act," and the protection of overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act

The Missouri State Lodge contracts with professional lobbyists in Jefferson City, in addition to the very effective "Days on the Hill" in which members themselves lobby elected officials

Recent accomplishments at the state level include the May 2007 passage of Senate Bill 270 which adds 2 rank & file officers to the P.O.S.T. Commission. Also in May 2007, Senate Bill 406 set statutory requirements that employing government entities fully fund pension plans or face withholding of tax payments from the State of Missouri. The taxes withheld by the state would be deposited directly to the pension.

Due to the volume of membership, the St. Louis County Police Association is financially able to make generous charitable contributions

Organizations such as The BackStoppers and the Welfare Association regularly benefit from SLCPA donations of money and volunteers

Individuals in need, whether our own members or fellow law enforcement professionals and their families, are supported through the SLCPA treasury

Membership in the Fraternal Order of Police also supports the Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial on the grounds of the state capitol in Jefferson City and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
